Re: Classic Mode

Moonrak, regardless of everything... 65 years, man, congratulations! You've been through the best ages of computers then, when it was all just getting started. Cheers to you!

Re: changing locations suggestion (f1 and f2) and more

I want to (in some future) add a so-called "named temporary panels", with a functionality to manually put items there and remove them out. Oh, oh! I remember several times in my life wanting SO BAD to have something like that in Total Commander. That sounded like a perfect solution for the task at ...

Re: Classic Mode

Moonrak, hi! XTreeGold -- man, I've been through this phase :) Somewhere between Norton Commander and Dos Navigator, I think :) Anyway, I think it would be useful if you could let Mike know WHY you love the classic mode. Because if you're really after a "simple non-distracting interface" I doesn't n...

Re: TC Style command line interpreter

Psst... He's known as "Mike" now ;) But yeah, he should have some "admin" / "master" badge by his user name so that people know who's that dude. Or perhaps a crown added on the profile pic? ;)

Re: TC Style command line interpreter

Yeah, my story as well :) For years, as I've been doing side work on OS X, I've longed for a good commander tool. But nothing came even close to Total Commander. Until I found Nimble Commander. Mike (a.k.a. migun, God knows why) is a very good engineer and this shows in NC. Hopefully he'll be able t...

Re: TC Style command line interpreter

Yup, here's how it's in my mind: for anything that's supposed to last longer (like starting a local Rails server), I've made an external tool shortcut that launches a real Terminal.app, at current directory, in a separate window. Simple: * quick terminal action related to stuff I'm doing in the pane...

Re: TC Style command line interpreter

There are three confusing issues here, I think: * NC has actually two different terminal integrations, with separate history, output, similar but different way of switching, etc * One of them is easy to find (View > Show Terminal / ALT+CMD+O) the other is less obvious (View > Panels Position > Show/...

Re: Classic Mode

If it was my call, I'd just drop the classic mode. I only see the code for these two running more and more apart as macOS and Nimble Commander evolve. And supporting both will be more and more costly. It's a tough price to pay for a trip down the memory lane ;) Frankly, I don't think people consider...

Re: Quick view image scaling

If it's not a trivial thing, then I suggest just leaving it as it is. Implementing your own quick preview solution would make no sense at all ;) It's a relatively low annoyance, "would be cool" thing that I, for one, can perfectly do without.
