Re: NC- APFS slow copy speed
A bit of follow-up here. After some further digging, it appears that the problem on APFS is not in F_PREALLOCATE itself, but in a consecutive ftruncate() syscall. This doesn't change the whole picture, just a detail. The Internet already has some WTF posts regarding this behavior. Ah! Thanks a mil ...

Re: Nimble SMB copy speed
If you check the same on HFS+ - it would be great (it doesn't matter if the drive is attached directly to the bus or via USB). Hi Mike Interesting tests here. So here is a copy to an external SSD via USB formatted as 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' : Copy.gif It starts the copy immediately without an...

Re: Nimble SMB copy speed
Anyway, why is it so slow on APFS/SSD nowadays - might be a good question. Ah ok thanks Mike. So something worth investigating here ? So i understand, from what you have said above, are you saying SSD's are not affected by this issue ? If this is true, i know you cant simply remove a function as th...

Re: v1.2.3 crashes after some time
Hi
Just my 2 cents
I also leave my NC open indefinitely and I must say i have not seen these symptoms.
NC has not crashed on me at all.
I have it open 24/7 on both my iMac and Macbook Pro and no crashes.
Both are running v1.2.3

Re: Nimble SMB copy speed
It's possible you're overthinking the situation :) Hi Mike Thanks for the speedy reply! you possibly right that im overthinking it    However i just did a basic test : Copy the same file from SMB to Local disk using both Nimble and Finder and I used a stopwatch to measure the copy ti...

NC- APFS slow copy speed [FIXED]
Hi Guys I have a Synology DS216+II (higher end spec NAS) for my NAS storage. I use SMB network shares from my Mac's to the NAS as i have done quite a bit of reading on forums etc, and it seems Apple themselves are trying to phase out AFP. My time machine backups would constantly crash when using AFP...

Re: "Get Info" dialog?
There is no "get info" dialog feature in Nimble Commander, but you can use some nice feature to get job done. 1. ^A opens "file attributes" dialog, you can even set file attributes with selected files. 2. When right click the file, you can press "alt" key to get more functions, for example, "open w...

F1 and F2 feature request [DONE]
Hi Mike This is a trivial and small request. There is also no urgency on adding it, if at all. (If you dont find it viable to add thats perfectly fine too) If its something quick for you to implement that would be great, if its not, then it can just be left alone :) It would be nice to be able to sw...
