Mask selection ignores directories [CLOSED]

Post by hugo187 » Wed Oct 25, 2017 3:16 pm

I cannot get this working. It seems "Ignore directories when selecting by mask" doesn't have any effect.

What are you trying to achieve?
The logic behind this options is pretty simple: when it is on - no mask selection/deselection affects directory items.

Sorry, should have been more specific. The issue I had was that even with the "Ignore directories when selecting by mask" ticked off, I wasn't able to select/deselect directories.

I have tried it again now and I think the problem is that *.* mask doesn't apply to files/directories without extension. If I use just *, then it matches all items. It is likely correct behaviour, isn't? It seems on Windows/DOS *.* matches all items, while on Unix/Linux *.* matches only items with an extension.

You're absolutely right.
If the goal is to select everything regardless of it's type - then it's faster to hit Cmd+A / Alt+Cmd+A.
