accidentially closing tabs [DONE]

Post by akust » Wed Oct 25, 2017 6:02 pm

sorry i didn't search the forum for my problem, I just post this little lazy bugreport plus a screen recording showing my problem I stumble upen pretty often:

short description:
Using mouse to switch tabs, the tabs disapper because I don't just clicked the tab rider but also the [x] at that small area..
little demo:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByXHt ... Ud6Ul91Ukk

maybe the behavior can be changed to something like "only active tabs can be removed" or optionally hide this [x] /show up only with extra key..?

anyway, else I enjoy the app very much!
cheers
d

But that's the default behavior of tabs in macOS, isn't it?

err.. you're right.
I was in the assumption there is a step in between in finder and/or other apps, but it's not.
So it's not a bug.

Then I'd like ask for a 'tab kill stopper' as a feature request.
My 'problem' is that I use NC as a floating window and it shows two windows at once - hence the space for the tabs is smaller than in other apps. And it is handy to have 4..6 tabs open.. that makes them just right to be clicked but yet pretty small and the close buttons become relatively big 'mines' in small sections..

Maybe a "Re-open Closed Tab" function would also be useful here? As requested in

I would also prefer an option NOT to close the NC when only one tab remains.

I know it's not like how other software is working, but at least give us an option :)

On it.

I'm working on reopening of recently closed tabs a-la Safari:

Need to study possible interactions further, but so far it looks pretty cool.
NC can also reopen closed temporary panels too, as they are now 1st class citizens of panel's history.
"Recently Closed" list is global - it's being gathered across all NC windows.

I think this would contradict the standard macOS behavior too much.

As contradict as two-pane file managers :)

Now, I do not say this has to be the default, but adding an option would be super awesome.

If you want to be strict, then closing the last tab on one pane should close that pane, leaving just one pane left. In other words, why would closing all tabs on one pane close all other tabs on the other pane?

That's a valid point.
Closing a window, which contains more than two tabs in total, looks indeed wrong.
