Steps to reproduce:

1. Click File > New Folder
2. Change your mind and click Escape

Actual result:
New folder named "untitled folder" is created

Expected result:
No folder is created

Shift+Cmd+N initially creates a folder and then shows a text field to rename it, but it's just a renaming of an already existing item.
If you want NC to do leave nothing after Esc - you should use the traditional F7 (Create Directory) command.
