Connect to SMB share [DONE]

Post by sasha » Tue May 17, 2016 3:47 pm

It would be useful for me to connect to SMB shares from NI as an option under "Go -> Connect to...". Currently, I'm using Finder's "Connect to Server" ("CMD+K"), then switch to NC and select the share from there.

Thanks,
Sasha

Yup, that's what I do as well (set it up in Finder, then switch to NC). Would be nice to have it all in NC, but it's only a minor annoyance.

BTW, Mike, once the switch to the new name and domain is completed, perhaps you could set up the issue/task tracking system where tasks can have priorities and milestones assigned (like GitHub or Trello)? Because it's good to have these things written down, but obviously not everything is equally important and it's difficult to sort it all out using the forum.

Hi guys,
Yes, I have to switch to Finder for that task too. Absolutely agree that this would be a useful feature.

Darek, I'm still struggling with new website and other stuff. Public issue tracker is on TODO list and I think GitHub can nicely fit for this usage - it's responsive and user-friendly.

Guys,

As a temporary solution for this issue, in case of limited amount of LAN shares (I assume 2 or 3 shares can cover most cases), an external tool can be used.
In my case the config is pretty simple:

In situations, where user and/or password is required - a dialog via "%?" placeholder can do the job.

You see how useful these external tools are? Cool stuff! :)

Darek, I've never argued that external tools are useless :)
This stuff is just... complex, and current implementation is far-far from being complete.
