I personally always prefer to switch tabs (with ctrl+tab) in a Most-Recently-Used manner instead of switching from left to right.
I always find this more natural and productive, in the end it just resembles the normal app switching style (cmd+tab) which is MRU-style as well
I know some prefer it otherwise (or don't care), so would be cool to see this as an option some day.

Good notice, I've never really thought about this difference.
Perhaps it will be possible to leave the Cmd+Shift+[ / Cmd+Shift+] hotkeys on changing the focused tab from left to right, while Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab will iterate thru MRU list. Need to think about it.
