Touchbar support

Post by encho » Sat Apr 15, 2017 4:14 pm

Hi, love the minimalistic philosophy behind the app and it now is my primary file manager. As I have new MacBook with Touchbar, I have no physical Fn keys. So I find it difficult to use when copying/moving (extra press needed).

I would like to see the buttons in my Touchbar or at least an option to have the buttons (<F5 Copy> <F6 Move> etc) below the panes.

Thanks a lot for the effort.

Hi, encho, and welcome to the forum!

Frankly speaking, all this theme with Touchbar is quite frustrating for me (http://magnumbytes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=163).
At the moment I don't have any of these shiny new machines, since I'm pretty happy with my 2012 MBP stuffed to the top and can't find any justification to throw away a few grands.
So, I can, in theory, use onscreen/iPad emulation to write some Touchbar support, but this would require a lot of external feedback - as it's very unhandy to implement something without an ability to test it on a real device.

Hi encho,

found myself in the same situation, so I searched for a solution to have the function keys displayed as a default only for NC.
Luckily this is already built into macOS: http://www.imore.com/how-make-function- ... ar-display
With this, I have the normal touchbar layout, but when switching to NC (and e.g. eclipse, which will probably never get touchbar support) I have the function keys displayed.
With this I consider touchbar support as a nice-to-have feature for NC 3.0 :)

Thanks for the reply! I guess if I bother you too much, you might give in  I got my touchbar Mac from the Uni, it was quite expensive though. Luckily my department has the funding :) I volunteer for testing if that means anything to you.

Thanks, that'll keep me going for a while.
