"Duplicate" command on the remote filesystems doesn't update file list. You should manually press ⌘R to see the duplicated entry.

I didn't have this type of issue (“File Open” dialog is missing sidebar items), but i thought that clearing finder preferences might help. And yeah, it helped. Everything works fine now. Here is what i get in Console after launching NimbleCommander:
