wildcards for copy / move

Post by pwu » Sun Jul 18, 2021 4:09 pm

Hi Mike,

thank you again for you great job!

I've used to use * and ? on my old windows PC and I was trying to find alternative on Mac but it seems it's not implemented or I don't know how to do it.
Is it possible to use any kind of wildcards for copy/move operations? It's in case if I plan to copy/move folder(s) or file(s) and alter names in one step. For example I have a folder I'd like to copy somewhere keeping original name at source and add some suffix at destination. Like *_some_suffix or prefix_* (where * - original name). Or like copy/move files like FM100123.EXT and changing extension at the same time using *.NEW_EXTENSION. Or like copy files like FM100123.EXT and renaming with ??2?????.EXT to FM200123.EXT (where ? - one symbol from original name)

I know I can do it in two steps, but maybe it's possible to do it at once. It's especially useful if you plan long queue - many operations with renaming

thank you and have a nice day!
