Hi, could you elaborate?

I've just checked, it seems to work:

Preview mode is set to Floating Window.

Yes. It works only if selected show in separated window in settings, but if selected show in another panel, QL window not open in single panel mode. I think need roll back to separated window for QL in single panel mode. Hmm, or fill all active window.

So, essentially, that would a third mode like "use an opposite panel if available, otherwise fallback to a floating window".
I think that would be even less obvious that it is now.

Frankly I don't see much of a problem here: if you want to have a floating window for QL - then just toggle this option.
NC is already complex enough to add even more UX logic.

Yes, I agree it will complicate the UX. But now it looks like a bug, the QL call hotkey simply does not work, and the user may not know that there is a mode switch in the settings. Maybe force return in dual panel mode when trigger QL? I think it's not bad compromise, because the context of the current panel is not lost, and you can quickly return to single-panel mode via hotkey.

That's actually a really good idea, I like it!
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll see if it can be implemented with a reasonable effort.
